Energy minister Mr AK Sharma said that this would be a significant step towards making UP self-sufficient in power generation and enable 24×7 power supply to the people

Energy minister of UP, Mr AK Sharma visits Jawaharpur thermal power plant in Etah district which is going to produce 1320 MW of power from its two units each of 660 MW

Energy department of Uttar Pradesh takes a huge leap in terms of increasing thermal energy production and solar energy production

The state operationalises one unit of 660 MW and is in the process of starting many other power plants with huge capacities

This would enable the  doubling of the thermal power capacity of the state

Etha Energy minister of UP Mr AK Sharma visited the Jawaharpur thermal power plant in Etah District. This plant is supposed to generate 1320 MW of power from two units, each of 660 MW with a total expenditure of Rs 12,320 Crores

The cost of energy produced would only be Rs 4.22/unit

The first unit of this plant has been successfully synchronised and commercial production of electricity is expected to begin this month.

Mr Sharma was here to inspect the operational preparedness of the plant, including logistical and infrastructure works which are required to be completed for commercial production.

During the inspection, the Energy minister visited all the important segments of the project such as the Ash duct, Railway siding linkage, the conveyor belt, generator, cooling tower, control room and many other facilities. He spent over three hours  at the inspection site, and  later expressed complete satisfaction at the readiness of the plant which would commence commercial production of electricity during this very month. Also, the second unit of the plant would be commissioned in February 2024.

While narrating the experience  after visiting this plant, he also congratulated and complimented the officers, staff and the workers numbering above 4000 for  working relentlessly and with all safety precautions in place, to operationalise the plant.
He also stated that these two units of 660 MW each and a few other units would enable the state of Uttar Pradesh to double thermal power production capacity.

In the next few months, in addition to the 1320 MW from this plat at Jawaharpur, 660 MW would be generated from Obra 'C' which is also similarly ready for production.
He also added that Panki and Harduaganj plants are also getting ready for commercial production and that would also add around 2480 MW of power in the state kitty.

In addition, he said that agreements and MOUs have been signed with NTPC for putting up thermal power plants of huge capacity. This includes 2 units of 800 MW each at Obra 'D' site, 2 units again of 800 MW each at Anpara, and one unit of 660 MW at Meja in JV with NTPC.

Further, he said that they have projects in pipeline for generation of solar energy to the extent of 6800 MW.

Further,  to enable solar energy plants to generate in full capacity, there are plans to set up more than 12,000 MW capacity of pump storage projects.

All this put together would more than double the energy  production of Uttar Pradesh. He further said that with the blessings of Hon.  Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji and under leadership of CM Shri Yogi Aadityanath ji, the state would transform to be Self-sufficient in terms of energy generation and would also be one of those states which will supply 24×7 power to the people.
